When Natalie wrote to us while we were still overseas that she wanted us to produce a pre-wedding film for her fiance Simon, we had a big task in front of us. How to produce a film without your main lead knowing that they’re in it?

This film was to be shown on their wedding night as a surprise for Simon but with him in it. At first, we thought of hidden camera concepts but that would deteriorate the look of the film and flow of the story.

Then Natalie had an idea.

She wanted us to produce an interview film for her so that she could play on her hen’s night. Simon would be asked a series of questions and Natalie would have to answer them on the night of her hens to see if they get the same answer.

The film would also incorporate the story of Natalie making a surprise for Simon with her family dog, Buster. We came up with a concept of Natalie training Buster and eventually, getting him to bring a surprise message to Simon.

The film premiered at their wedding reception in Sergeant’s Mess at Chowder Bay right after Simon’s speech. Natalie went up to the lectern to reveal to Simon and her guests that the film for her hen’s night had an ulterior motive and that the true film was the surprise pre-wedding film.

We can’t say that it wasn’t difficult filming Simon without him thinking that this film was for their wedding night, but we’re pretty happy that we pulled it off. Needless to say, the film was incredibly popular on the night of the reception. The place was roaring with laughter! Justin (Natalie’s brother) was so proud of Buster’s performance, he even shed a couple of tears. Bless!
